This year, Skull Dogs Media is honored to partner once again with More Than a Single Story’s Go Back & Fetch It, a mentorship program uplifting early-career Black writers. Unlike last year’s finale event, this time we’ll be documenting the program across the entire year - capturing each gathering, moment, and milestone along the way.

The 2025 season of Go Back & Fetch It opened with a warm, celebratory orientation at Klassics Kitchen in Saint Paul. Twelve Black writers met for the first time, eager to build connections for the year ahead.

As the evening drew to a close, Carolyn asked if anyone might be willing to share a poem. One voice led to another, and soon several mentees were sharing their work.
